Biography Yaguzhinskiy Lev Sergeevich

Doctor of biological sciences, Ph.D in Chemistry, head of laboratory in the Research Institute of Physico-Chemical Biology at MSU.

Lev Sergeevich Yaguzhinsky was born on April 15, 1935 in Moscow. He graduated from the chemistry department of Moscow State University. In 1964 he defended his thesis, in 1980 – his doctorate. Until 1967, he worked at the Cancer Institute, then moved to the Belozersky Research Institute of Physico-Chemical Biology at MSU, where he is currently the head of the laboratory of the structure and function of the membrane. He lectures at Moscow State University, and many students defended their thesis under his leadership. He is the author of about 250 scientific articles published in various journals.

L. S. Yaguzhinsky is fond of hiking, including skiing and water, writes poetry.

Scientific interests: study of the mechanism of action of antitumor substances; biological artificial membranes; the nature of the binding of physiologically active substances to receptors and enzymes (determining the design of receptors); biochemical mechanisms that occur during apoptosis, mechanisms of energy transformation in the cell; water properties; water heterogeneity problem; ecology problems.
